These training programs comprise a minimum two-year master's degree with a component of 750 supervised clinical hours placement in the mental health arena. Graduates of these programs are eligible for Professional Registration with ANZACATA. Registered Arts Therapists (AThR) are required to comply with ANZACATA’s Standards of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics. ANZACATA also provides some alternative pathways to membership. This must include a practicum (internship) of at least 500 hours of supervised clinical work. The competency of demonstrating arts practice and experience is also emphasized with 1,000-hour supervised EXAT work experience required. People who have fulfilled the requirements could use the title of Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT®). Registered Expressive Arts Therapists are required to comply with IEATA®’s Standards of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics. IEATA® also provides some alternative pathways to membership.
